Governor Jeb Bush: (2005) A contest by Leadership Florida promised a “greet and meet” session with Governor Jeb Bush for the most creative quilt design in a competition between four Southwest Florida school districts. The project theme was “Unity in Diversity”. As project manager, I mentored a group of 40 students to conceptualize a 4 x 6 foot quilt constructed out of various fabric materials. The Leadership Florida organization judged the quilts and awarded our school 1st place. The quilt was presented to Governor Jeb Bush in Tallahassee, Florida celebrating and honoring diversity.
